Rodger M. O'Hanlon,
retired officer
Rodger M. O'Hanlon, age 80,
of Vero Beach, F1. and formerly
of Rehoboth Beach and Washing-
ton, D.C., died Saturday, April 20,
1996 after a prolonged illness at
Palm Gardens Nursing Home.
Born in Washington, D.C.,
where he lived and worked for
more than 60 years until his mar-
riage to Wilda B. O'Hanlon in
1975, he moved to Vero Beach
five years ago from Melbourne,
FI. after living in Rehoboth
Beach.
Mr. O'Hanlon was a graduate of
Catholic University in Washing-
ton, D.C. He was an officer in the
U.S. Navy during World War II
where he commanded a mine
sweeping flotilla in the South Pa-
cific. He retired from the active
Navy Reserve with the rank of
commander and was a life mem-
ber of the Retired Officers Associ-
ation and an honorary life member
of the Kenwood Country Club,
Bethesda, Md.
He is survived by his wife; three
step-sons, Martin Bennett of
Sonoma, Ca., James and Bruce
Bennett of Bethesda, Md.; one
step-danghter, Elizabeth Soto of
Tucson, Az.; four step-grandchil-
dren; five nieces; two nephews;
and a sister, Mrs. Bruce Tuxhorn
of Washington, D.C.
At the request of the family
there will be no local service, with
burial in Arlington National
Cemetery. Contributions are sug-

Herman N. Rizzo,
retired groundskeeper
Herman N. Rizzo, age 71, of
Wilmington, died Monday, April
22, 1996 of heart failure at'St.
Francis Hospital.
Mr. Rizzo, who was known as a
Chap, had been a groundskeeper
at DuPont Country Club for 17
years. He was a member of St.
Paul's Catholic Church, Wilming-
ton.
He is survived by his wife of 47
years, Jean L. Beecher Rizzo; two
sons, Michael N. and Mark A.,
both of Wilmington; a daughter,
Jean L. Morris of Lewes; four
brothers, Joseph, Francis, Vincent
and Lawrence, all of Wilmington;
a sister, Hitda Ceci of Wilming-
ton; and two granddaughters.
Mass of Christian Burial was
held at St. Paul's Catholic Church
with burial in Cathederal Ceme-
tery. Contributions are suggested
to St.Paul's Catholic Church,
Wilmington.
Rachel Ann Volkman,
Rehoboth homemaker
Rachel Ann Volkman, age 76,
of Rehoboth Beach, died of heart
fa'eat home Saturday, April
20, 1996. :
A homemaker, Mrs. Volkman
enjoyed needlework and cooking,
having moved to Rehoboth Beach
from California in 1989. Her hus-
band, Albert E., died in 1970.
She is survived by a daughter,
Paula A. Disque of Lewes; and
two grandchildren.
A prayer service will be held at
11 a.m., Friday, April 26 in
Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Parsell Fu-
neral Homes and Crematorium,
1449 Kings Highway, Lewes,
with burial in Arlington National
Cemetery at a later date. Contri-

Charl Pennypacker Sr.,

Charles S. "Pop" Pennypacker
Sr., age 88, of Lewes died Friday,
April 19, 1996 of heart failure in
Sebring, F1.
Mr. Pennypacker was a plaster-
ing contractor in the Main Line,
Philadelphia area for over 60
years, before retiring to Lewes in
1980. His wife, Esther, died in
1991.
He is survived by a daughter,
Doris Pennypacker of Scottsdale,
Az.; three sons, Charles Jr. of
Malvern, Pa., George "Pete" of
Devon, Pa. and Nelson of Radnor,
Pa. and Lewes; 11 grandchildren;
and 18 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be an-
nounced at a later date. Contribu-
tions are suggested to Lewes Lit-
fie League.
Beatrice A. Webb,
retired salesperson
Beatrice A. Webb, age 74, of
Ellendale, died Friday, April 19,
1996 of heart failure at Milford
Memorial Hospital.
Until retiring in 1985, Mrs.
Webb was a salesperson at Mont-
gomery Ward store, Milford. Ear-
lier she was an assistant manager
at the W.T. Grant store, Milford.
She was a former member of the
women's auxiliary of Ellendale
Fire Company. Her husband,
James L., died in 1978.
She is survived by two daugh-
ters, Ethel Adams of Ellendale
and Phyllis A. Donovan of Lin-
coln; two sons, Gerald L. and
Donald L. both of Ellendale; three
sisters, Alberta Rust and Myrtle
Lowe, both of Georgetown, and
Althea Pepper of Harbeson; 12
grandchildren; and 12 great-
grandchildren.
Services were held at Short Fu-
neral Home, Milton, with burial in
Ellendale Cemetery.

Anna S. Lazar, age 78, formerly
of Chester, Pa., died Monday,
April 22, 1996, of heart failure at
Parkview Nursing and Rehabilita-
tion Center, Wilmington.
