Hummer, retired school nurse Patricia W. Hummer, 89, of Seaford, formerly of Frank- ford, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving fam- ily Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at the Methodist Manor House in Seaford. Pat was born in Flemington, Pa., June 20, 1927, daughter of the late John David Walker and Goldie (Knarr) Walker. She graduated the Beebe School of Nursing in Lewes in 1948. Pat worked as a registered nurse and operating room supervisor, and then worked for several years in several different doctors’ offices. In 1964, Pat became the school nurse at Sussex Central Jr. High and retired from the Indian River School District in 1991 after 27 years of service. Pat enjoyed making crafts, creating beautiful ceramics, knit- ting and doing needlepoint. She was a member of Hickory Hill United Methodist Church where she played the piano for several years, and was a past member of the Delaware Educational As- sociation. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 15 siblings and her husband, James L. Hummer Jr. in 1991. She is sur- vived by two children, Kathleen A. Hummer of Lexington, Ky., and James L. “J.L.” Hummer III and his wife Bonnie of Dagsboro; a granddaughter, Kasey J. Hum- mer; and a brother, Billy Walker of Lock Haven, Pa. A funeral service was held Sat- urday, April 22, at the Frankford Chapel of Melson Funeral Ser- vices, 43 Thatcher St., Frankford. Interment at Carey’s Cemetery in Frankford. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Pat’s name to Vitas Hospice, 20773 Professional Park Blvd., Georgetown, DE 19947. Nancy West Aydelotte, office manager, CNA Nancy (West) Aydelotte, 68, of Milton, passed away peacefully Monday, April 24, 2017, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes. Nancy, a lifelong Milton resident, was born in Milford, daughter of the late Howard T. and Mary Vinyard (Brittingham) West. Nancy graduated from Milton High School and went to work as a court stenographer with Judge Stevenson at Family Court in Dover. She then worked as an office manager for Attorney James Sabo, Top Side Restaurant, and then Dr. Charles Wagner, MD. Nancy also was a CNA and worked with Genesis in Milford and the Visiting Nurses Asso- ciation. Nancy was a member of Goshen UM Church. She loved attending church, gardening, flowers, cooking and baking. As a youngster and throughout her life she also worked alongside her family on their Milton farm and produce stand, West Pro- duce. She is survived by a son, Rick W. Aydelotte and his wife Stepha- nie; a granddaughter, Chelsea F. Aydelotte, all of Milton; and a host of extended family and friends. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 29, in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton, with visitation Friday, April 28, from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Henlopen Memorial Park.
