NMLSR ID 399801. 03/17 34 FRIDAY, APRIL 28 - MONDAY, MAY 1, 2017 NEWS Cape Gazette Joseph Edward Burgess, loved teaching Zumba Joseph Edward Burgess, 70, passed away at home in Lewes, Monday, March 27, 2017, from brain cancer, peacefully in his sleep. Joseph was born in Charleston, W.Va., May 28, 1946. He gradu- ated from Morris Harvey College and received a bachelor’s degree in journalism. Joseph was married to Lyle D. Haas Aug. 19, 2013, thanks to the help of our wonder- ful President Obama, after being together for 40 years. They met in Atlantic City, N.J., and then m o v e d t o Washington, D.C . T h e y spent most of their lives together in Freder- icksburg, Va., and finally retired to Rehoboth Beach, which was always their dream. Joseph had a glorious career with The United States District Court in Washington, D.C. with 41 years of service, He was loved by all who worked with him because he always had the time to help. After he retired, his second career was teaching Zumba in the beach area. Of all the things in his life, he would rather dance than eat. Even at the age of 70, he was able to teach three one-hour classes back to back. Joseph is survived by his broth- er, Terry Edward Burgess, and his niece Julie, both of Charleston, W.Va., and the rest of his family and friends. Joseph is proceeded in death by his parents, Percy and MaeBe- ss Burgess. The memorial service will be held at noon, Saturday, May 6, at All Saints’ Episcopal Church, 18 Olive Ave., Rehoboth Beach. Following the service there will be a Celebration of Life Party at the clubhouse in Bay Crossing Homes off Route 1 in Lewes. James ‘Taxi’ Wesley Fagg, loved Rehoboth James “Taxi” Wesley Fagg, 53, of Lewes, left this Earth Friday, April 7, 2017, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes, after a two-year battle with cancer. He was born Saturday, Sept. 21, 1963, in Wilmington, son of Catherine (Holcomb) Fagg and the late Wesley J. Fagg. Known for his raspy voice and outspo- ken opinions, James always drew a crowd anywhere he went. He loved his small town of Rehoboth B e a c h a n d could always be found help- ing someone in need, eating a Louie’s grinder, or just enjoying the ocean view. James always told his children: “When you leave this world, leave your mark, not your stain.” James is survived by his wife, Terry; his loving mother, Cath- erine; his three children: Brooke, Wesley and Andrew; his brother Rocky; and his three beloved Obituaries » Joseph Burgess James Fagg grandchildren, who loved their “Granddude.” A Celebration of James’ Life will be held Saturday, May 13, in front of the Henlopen Hotel at 1 p.m., where James loved to spend his down time. Albert Earl Snapp, property manager Albert Earl Snapp, 76, of Re- hoboth Beach passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at Beebe Healthcare, Lewes. He was born in Baltimore, Md., Aug. 27, 1940, son of the late George and Gertrude Snapp. Mr. Snapp, known by many as Mr. Al, served in the Navy, was a member of the Masons, worked as a mechanic and was a co-owner of L & S Diesel Inc., a diesel engine repair corporation. Mr. Snapp and his late wife, Hel- en Snapp, moved to Rehoboth Beach in 2000, where he started Deb/Kay Inc., a property man- agement company. Mr. Snapp is survived by his sister JoAnn (nee Snapp); daughters Deborah Meyers and Diane Hagne; and son Tony Scar- pati; his grandchildren Kaylyn Meyers, Michelle and Joseph Kosmalski, Katie Johnson, Pat- rick Scarpati and Julie Scarpati; his great-grandchildren, Brittany, Nathan, Leah, Aubrey, Silas; and longtime friend Duane Zentgraf. Mr. Snapp will be cremated and will be enshrined at Veteran Memorials Cemetery, Millsboro. A memorial service will be held, the date and time to be an- nounced later.
