WRDE-TV welcomes attorney and former Delaware elected of- ficial John Brady to the WRDE news team. Brady will serve a dual role for WRDE. He will re- port on political and legal stories, and serve as the station's legal analyst. "I've known John Brady for many years," says WRDE Presi- dent and General Manager Bob Backman. "John's decades of experience and expertise are unmatched in Sussex County. He will be a tremendous resource to WRDE." On June 13, 2012, the Delaware Senate confirmed Brady for a six- year term on the Delaware State Industrial Accident Board. He will continue to serve in this role. Brady grew up in Wilmington and attended Salesianum School. He went on to the University of Delaware, and graduated from the University of Richmond for undergraduate and then to Widener Law School. He is ad- mitted to the Bar in Delaware and New Jersey and the Bar of the Supreme Court of the United States, and he serves as the town prosecutor in Dewey Beach and town solicitor for Ellendale. Brady served as a deputy attorney general for the state of Delaware, as a legislative attorney, taught courses at Wid- ener Law School, held offices in county government, practiced privately as an attorney and vol- unteered for charitable causes. In 2011, he left office as re- corder of deeds, and was later appointed by Gov. Jack Markell to serve on the Delaware State Board of Plumbing, Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning for a three-year term as a public member. On Nov. 6, 2012, Brady was elected Clerk of the Peace for Sussex County. The clerk of the peace is the head of the Marriage Bureau for the county, where marriage licenses are issued and upon request, the ceremony is performed. Brady was sworn into office in January 2013. Brady per- formed almost 1,000 weddings during his term. WRDE-TV is Delmarva's NBC station, serving the Salisbury/ Ocean City market from studios in Lewes. The resulting funds contributed directly to the development of Delaware's ProStart program in both the culinary and manage- ment aspects of food service.  Xavier gained his food service skills at the now long-gone Brandywine Raceway and the iconic New Orleans fine-dining restaurant Commander's Palace. Since 1984 he has become a major landmark in the Delaware dining landscape.  During his keynote speech, current DRAEF Chairman Josh Grapski singled out Xavier and his awards as virtual recognition of Delaware's entire restaurant industry. Grapski is president of LaVida Hospitality, the parent of Fork + Flask @ Nage, Crooked Hammock Brewery, Big Chill Surf Cantina, Taco Reho Truck and the soon-to-open Big Chill Beach Club at the Indian River Inlet. He made a point of clarifying that what Teixido and others have accomplished in this state is proof positive of the impact that the hospitality industry has not only on the economy of The First State, but also the young people who dream of careers in this busi- ness of eating.  Bob Yesbek is a serial foodie and can be reached at Bob@RehobothFoodie.com.
