In support of this initiative lo- cally, the Lord Baltimore Lions identified a local area project that would serve the needs of the local community and also con- tribute to a healthier community for all residents. Lion Jack Bauer, environmental chair, worked with the Delaware Division of Parks and Recreation to identify a project for the club to help enhance the local envi- ronment. Club members met at the Dela- ware Seashore State Park Fresh Pond Trail on Hickman Avenue in Ocean View April 22. Lions Karl Gude, Paul Bolton, Don Sherwood, Jeff Hilovsky, Steve Shraneva, Patricia Monahan and Bud Hillman joined Bauer on the service project. The Lions worked under the guidance of Donna Racine, volunteer manager with the Department of Parks and Rec- reation. They installed posts, trimmed some growth and pro- vided a cleanup on trails at Fresh Pond. Supporting the environment is a major service focus of the Lord Baltimore Lions Club. Bauer said, "Lions clubs from around the world have been committed to protecting the environment for several decades, and we un- derstand that every small effort makes a big difference."
