It appointed member of the planning group. The first courthouse, cypress-shingled, and several prominent Sussex Countians to find a central site for a seat of gov- first Jail, brick, went up in 1793. Building and change around the Circle eminent to replace Lewistown, now Lewes, which was hardly convenient have continued ever since. This photograph, taken on a quiet Sunday for residents of the far reaches of the 943 square mile county.
