This group of Cape Region residents sampled the full flavor of the French culture when they visited the old .European nation in the spring of 1996. They were partof a school trip which involved the French class of Worcester School in Berlin, MD. They were proud to be car- rying their Cape Gazette around the streets of Paris though the French didn't seem par- tlcularly impressed. The Eiffel Tower didn't object, however, to having its picture taken as one of the most recognized-landmarks of the world. Designed by the French engineer Alexandre Gustave Eiffel for the Paris Exposition of 1889, the Eiffel Tower stands 984 feet tall It consists of an open iron framework on four masonry piers.
