USDA Rural Development sets goals for rural families
Delaware and Maryland USDA
Rural Development state Director
Marlene Elliott recently returned
to Delaware from Washington,
D.C., where she participated in a
series of high level economic and
community development meet-
ings with key White House, con-
gressional and U.S. Department
of Agriculture (USDA) officials.
The meetings focused on ways
to support rural job creation,
home ownership, business devel-
opment and public utility and
community infrastructure needs in
rural America.
"The message from Washington
officials is they are committed to
supporting our efforts to address
issues important to rural Delaware
and Maryland," Elliott said.

cians. The store will stock CDs and records in a va-
riety of genres for Delmarva peninsula music lovers.
The owners, Lisa A. Denshuick, Theresa Denshuick
and Heather E. Harris, are very optimistic about
joining the Ocean City, Md., business community.
"Our vision is to become a real part of the creative
community, too," says Fishnet Music President Lisa
Denshuick. "We're looking forward to making part-
nerships with local clubs so we can coordinate our
stock with bands playing in the area." The staff is al-
so putting a lot of energy into seeking new acts on
Fishnet Music staff has a long history in independ-
ent and local music: "We've got some long-standing
relationships with independent record labels and in-
dividual bands, and we're very excited about work-
ing together with them for mutual success," said
Marketing Director Heather Harris.
"We're very proud to be a woman-owned busi-
ness, and it is an added bonus that I was able to be-
come a business partner with my daughter," said
Vice President Theresa Denshuick.

funds and partnership financing to
increase the level of rural home-
ownership, with an emphasis on
expanding opportunities for mi-
nority homeownership
• Advocating through business
and industry, loan guarantees, val-
ue-added agricultural grants and
other programs to expand local
business ventures and job creation
• Expand community access to
information technology for busi-
ness development and advanced
health and educational services
through building of technology
infrastructure.
