Society to host kayak trip
through Great Marsh May i
Paddling a kayak through the
glades of the Great Marsh is an
experience not soon forgotten.
Graceful herons and egrets grace
the skies and marine life thrives in
one of Delaware's greatest natural
areas.
For the second year, the Lewes
Historical Society and Quest Fit-
ness have joined together to bring
opportunity to enjoy such natu-
ral splendor. Last year's trip was
a beautiful one under sunny, warm
skies, exploring Canary Creek.
Jeff Pattison of Alexandria, Va.
came over to Lewes for the trip
last year and marveled at the natu-
ral beauty of the area. "It's won-
derful to know that this area has
been protected. There is some-
thing so peaceful and relaxing -
and then the history of the area• is
just amazing."
On May lO, a free trip will he
taken from Roosevelt Inlet up the
Broadkill to Old Mill Creek
through the Great Marsh. All pad-
dlers should meet at Quest Fitness
at noon Saturday, May lO - pad-
dlers of all skill levels are wel-
come.
Kayakers with their own boats
are more than welcome to bring
them, but it is appreciated if they
could contact the Society as well.
Transportation to and from the
kayak trip can be provided.
Kayaks can he reserved on a first
come, first served basis; to place
reservation for the trip, call the
Lewes Historical Society at 645-
7670.
