at all galleries. The philosophy of
the Lewes gallery owners i s that
it's not necessary to go to cities to
find great art; it's right here at the
beach. Knowledgeable and
friendly gallery staff and a wide
range ofmediurns make the selec-
tion of art accessible and fun.
Eight unique Lewes galleries
will participate in the Saturday,
May 3 Lewes Art Loop. Lewes
takes its commitment to the arts
seriously, and lwice a year cele-
brates and promotes art With a
unique half-day event. The Lewes
Art Loop, which runs from 2 to 6
p.m., features special exhibits,
The Edward Carter Gallery will be showing the work of
Annapolis photographer Celia Pearson during the spring
Art Loop in Lewes. Pearson's work will be on display from
May 1 through May 12. Pearson, a resident of Annapolis,
Md., founded Pearson Photography in 1979. She has earned
a national reputation for her photographs of architecture,
interiors and gardens and is widely published in national
magazines.
In the spring of 2000, five
Lewes galleries joined together to
create the Art Loop. Winner of the
2001 Governor's Tourism Award
for Best Partnership, the Art Loop
has even more exciting events
planned for this year. The second
Art Loop for 2003 will be held
Saturday, Sept. 13.
The Cape Artists, founded in
1984 by six watercolor students
of artist Howard Schroeder, cur-
renfly has more than 20 members.
The group is headquartered at 110
W. Third Street in a cooperative
gallery that carries the work of its
members, many of whom can be
seen throughout town painting the
village. During the month of May,
"flower power" is the dominant
theme. Inspired by colorful bou-
quets and re-emerging gardens,
the gallery artists will present for
the Art Loop an array of floral
watermedia paintings. Members
will be on hand to discuss their

The Edward Caner Gallery, lo-
cated at the comer of Front and
Market Streets, is a fine an pho-
tography gallery with two loca-
tions, one in Lewes and the other
in New York City. The two gal-
leries, working together, ensure
access for their clients to the
world's finest photographic
artists. The Edward Carter
Gallery sells only signed, original
work. Owners Sally Packard and
Dinah Reath are committed to
working with clients at all levels
of interest and encourage the ap-
preciation of photography
through education and monthly
exhibitions by emerging and es-
tablished artists working in the
medium of photography. For the
Art Loop, Annapolis resident
Celia Pearson will be the featured
artist. She has earned a national
