22 - CAPE GAZETTE - Tuesday, May 2 - Thursday, May 4, 2006 Millsboro to host Delmarva Volunteer Firemen May 4-6 The Delmarva Volunteer Firemen's Association and Ladies Auxiliary will assemble in Millsboro May 4-6 for their annu- -al conventions. This will be the 77th conven- tion for the Firemen's Association and the 72nd for the auxiliary. Membership in the Delmarva Firemen's Association includes representatives from all across the Delmarva Peninsula from Delaware, Maryland and Virginia. Members meet annually to coor- dinate interstate communications, discuss innovations in equipment and plan training events. Activities planned for Thursday, May 4 include a welcome and social get-together as well as a barbecue hosted by the Millsboro Fire Company. Meetings will be held Friday, with an awards banquet set for that evening. The public is invited to attend. A memorial service will be held at 9 a.m., Saturday, May 6, at Grace United Methodist Church in Millsboro, honoring deceased members of both the Delmarva Association and the Ladies Auxiliary. A parade will begin at 2 p.m., Saturday in downtown Millsboro and will conclude the conven- tions. I Visit www.capegazette.com I Submitted photo MERR benefit yard sale set May 6 in Lewes The Marine Education, Research and Rehabilitation Institute (MERR) will be holding a yard sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, May 6 at the MERR building at 801 Pilottown Road, Lewes (not at Cape Henlopen High School as previously advertised). This event will help to raise funds for the marine mammal and sea turtle rescue program. Many new and slightly used treasures will be available, including Longaberger baskets, culinary items from the Pampered Chef; furniture; childrens' toys; pet supplies; plant and garden items; tools and much more. Shoppers can enjoy refreshments, bake sale items, and the marine mammal and sea turtle education exhibit which will be on display during this event. Anyone wanting to donate items for the yard sale may drop these off at Quiznos on Rt. I in Rehoboth, and at the MERR facility, located at 801 Pilottown Road in Lewes. Drive past the University of Delaware College of Marine Studies campus on Pilottown Rd., cross Canary Creek bridge, and take an immediate right after the bridge. The building will be up ahead on the left, next to the U.S. Coast Guard Station at Roosevelt Inlet. Call 228-5029 for more information.
