Mary Jane Dillon,
retired secretary
Mary Jane Dillon, age 72, of
Rehoboth Beach and formerly of
Silver Spring, Md., died Sunday,
May 18, 1997 of congestive heart
failure at Suburban Hospital,
Betbesda, Md.
Mrs. Dillon retired in 1975 after
15 years as a secretary for Custom
Hi-Fi and Dixie Hi-Fi, both of
Washington, D.C. She was a
member of St. Edmond's Catholic
Church, Rehoboth Beach, where
she was a member of the Blessed
Virgin Mary Sodality. She was a
member of the Ladies of the Elks,
Lewes and of the Cape Henlopen
Senior Center.
Mrs. Dillon is survived by her
husband, John Robert Dillon;
three sons, John R., Jr., of
Stevensville, Md., John W., of
Laurel, Md. and Thomas P. of An-
napolis, Md.; a sister, Joan L.
Gawler of Rehoboth Beach; 11
grandchildren; and five great-
grandchildren.
A memorial mass was held at
St. Edmond's Catholic Church,

Jean Elizabeth DeVries,
registered nurse
Jean Elizabeth DeVries, age 65,
of Lewes, died Friday, May 16,
1997 at Beebe Medical Center.
Miss DeVries was a registered
nurse in Alexandria Hospital,
Alexandria, Va., for 30 years until
her retirement in 1990.
She was preceded in death by
two brothers, John F. and Ronald
P. DeVries.
She is survived by her mother,
Blanche DeVries, of Lewes; a
brother, Louis DeVries of San
Jose, Calif.; and two sisters, Ada
Curtiss of Delmar and Regina
Whalen of Lewes; and several
nieces and nephews.
A memorial mass was held at
St. Jude's Catholic Church with
burial private.

Ruth C. Sheppard, age 77, of
Lewes, died Saturday, May 17,
1997 of heart failure at Beebe
Medical Center.
Mrs. Sheppard was a garment
inspector for 20 years at Graves
Manufacturing.
She was a lifelong collector of
• antiques, an avid reader and a
friend to many. Mrs. Sheppard
