The classes who are creating parabolic dishes are actually Cape Henlopen High School seniors who study advanced placement calculus with Mike Eisenhour and advanced placement physics with John Hilton. The projects under construction this week are used to test the properties of a parabolic dish in generating an increase in heat at the dish's focal point, and in collecting sound waves at the focal point. Temperature and microphone sound probes are used to collect and store data that can be directly transmitted to a com- puter and then printed out.
