68 FRIDAY, MAY 29 - MONDAY, JUNE 1, 2015 CAPE LIFE Hospice volunteer Peggy Dolby, assistant direc- tor of development for Sussex and Kent counties for Delaware Hospice Inc., told attendees at the April luncheon meeting of National Association of Federal Retired Employees they could make an impact on people's lives by donating the gift of their time to volunteer in one or more of Delaware Hospice's caregiving programs. Dolby said Delaware Hospice provides support to individuals opportunities presented and families coming to the end of their caregiving journey, and ~he said they welcome volunteers who help by sitting down and reading to hospice patients, plan- ning and staffing hospice public events, assisting Delaware Hos- pice's outreach to children who have lost a parent, grandparent or sibling, and numerous other support activities. Dolby explained that Delaware Hospice provides high-quality hospice and healthcare to patients and families in end- of-life situations. She said they offer dignity, peace and comfort during a per- son's final days. while providing high-quality hospice and health care services, and "serving as a trusted community partner in end of life education and sup- port." The organization operates the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, an altemative to hospital care, which she said combines state-of-the-art technology with specialized, expert care in a spa- cious and tranquil environment. She said they also provide sup- port and counseling services to the families of patients, provide educational outreach programs to the community, and offer other programs, such as Transitions, a program for the seriously ill who are not appropriate for tra- ditional hospice care.
