Sussex Mobile Home Tenants honor volunteers
The Sussex County Mobile Home Tenants Association honored the volunteers who put out
the association newsletter with lunch at Boomer's on Wednesday, May 21. The volunteers,
working on a shoestring budget, have managed to put out 1,100,000 pages of newsletters de-
voted to issues affecting the manufactured housing tenants and industry.
"If it were not for the volunteers, we would not have gotten this far," said Association Sec-
retary Jim Truelove.
Approximately 35 volunteers were honored on Wednesday. Shown not in order are: Tom
Stecher, Nancy Stewart, Bob Frick, Amelia Frick, Jim Truelove, Mary Marcus, Kathy Miller,
Mildred Bromwell, Ruth Simmons, Dot DeWait, Betty Hershey, Galen Hershey, Eleanor Toner,
Gloria Jewell, Frank Jewell, Peg Wallace, Norma Markel, Wayne Markel, Bob Gaydos, Peg
Gaydos, Kitty Masters, Rosemary Dammers, Reds Wilson, Jim Jones and Laverne Jones.
PFLAG hosts youth group in Rehoboth
PFLAG (Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) Sussex County
has been working to start a youth group for gay, lesbian, bi-sexual,
transgendered and questioning youth in the Cape Region.
The group, comprised of young people under 25 years of age, is slow-
ly growing in numbers and interest, and meets every Friday evening
from 6:15 to 7:45 p.m., in Room 6 at Epworth United Methodist
Church, Baltimore Avenue, Rehoboth Beach.
According to PFLAG, the idea is to provide a safe place for such
youth to meet and socialize in a non-bar setting. They meet to play
board games, listen to music and eat and socialize. For more informa-
tion about the group, call the PFLAG Helpline at 856-3389.
