Rehoboth Art League Cottage
Tour to be dedicated to Bingham
The forty-eighth Rehoboth Art
League Cottage Tour will take
place on Tuesday and Wednesday,
July 8 and 9 from noon to 5 p.m.
This year's tour is dedicated to the
memory of Elizabeth N. Bingharn,
a contemporary of RAL founder
Louise Chambers Corkran and ac-
tive member of the league for
more than 50 years. Bingham's
daughter, Connie Boland of Re-
hoboth Beach and Bethesda, Md.,
and sister, Blix Koones of Re-
hoboth Beach and Key Colony,
Fla., are co-chairs of the 1997
Cottage Tour.
Bingham passed away in De-
cember of 1996. She is listed as a
founding member of the Rehoboth
Art League in "Delaware Women
Remembered," a 1971 book list-
ing accomplished women of
Delaware. A Red Cross 'Grey La-
dy' during World War II, Bing-
ham volunteered for numerous
other organizations in the Wash-
ington, D.C. area and Delaware,
including the Art League. An avid
potter, an award for excellence in
pottery at the League's annual
Member's Craft Exhibit has been
established in her name.
The Cottage Tour will feature
the unique homes of seven area
residents and a display of League
artists in one of the homes, as well
as tea and cookies served at the
Art League.
Tickets are $10 and may be ob-
tained at the Rehoboth Art League
and at area merchants about a
month before the tour. Proceeds
from lunch purchased at the Cor-
ner Cupboard Inn on the days of
the tour will be donated to the Re-
hoboth Art League.
