Delaware River & Bay Authori-
ty (DRBA) will again host a fund-
raiser to benefit Beebe Medical
Center of Lewes, and Burdette-
Tomlin Memorial Hospital of
Cape May, N.J. While the inau-
gural gala charity affair raised
$90,000 for the two medical insti-
tutions, this year's encore benefit
looks to top that number by pre-
senting an unprecedented lineup
of entertainment.
Along with a 'good vibration'
performance from rock and roll
legends the Beach Boys, the 1997
event will feature a laser show,
NASCAR display - featuring the
Dover Downs Official Pace Car
from the presenting sponsor
Dover Downs, and a fireworks ex-
hibition given by renowned fire-
works specialists Zambelli Inter-
national, according to Mike
Owens, DRBA Director of Ferry
Operations.

Lewes police to hold
bicycle safety rodeo
The Lewes Police Department
will hold a bicycle safety rodeo on
Saturday, May 31 from noon to 3
p.m. at the Lewes Middle School.
Prizes and awards will be given
out; kids should bring their bikes
and helmets. The rain date for the
event is Sunday, June 1.
"CATS" trip offered
by Del Tech May 31
Delaware Technical & Commu-
nity College will sponsor a trip to
the Wilmington Playhouse on Sat-
urday, May 31 to see the play,
"Cats," winner of seven Tony
awards. The cost includes trans-
portation and theatre tickets for
Sunday, July 5 at the Eagle Crest
Aerodrome property in Lewes.
The site is being donated by Hud-
son Homes of Rehoboth Beach.
The event grounds will open at
4:30 p.m.
The Beach Boys will transform
Lewes into their own island par-
adise beginning at 8 p.m. after the
performance of an opening band.
The July 5 fireworks exhibition
and laser show will conclude the
evening by lighting up the skies

with the outstanding support of

and the tremendous talent and en-
tertainment we've assembled for

CHEER drawing to be
held at July 5 fair
Sussex County Senior Services
(CHEER) will hold a drawing on
Saturday, July 5 at the Sussex
County Fair and Delaware Tech-
nical & Community College's Old
Fashioned Fourth of July at Sus-
sex County Airport, sponsored by
the Georgetown Chamber of
Commerce. The proceeds will
benefit the construction of a new
Multi-Purpose Community and
Adult Day Care in Georgetown.

at last year's event which was a
July 4 fund-raiser onboard the
MV Twin Capes with entertain-
ment provided by the Delaware
Symphony. This year's event is
expected to draw $20,000 atten-
dees.
