June 6, )0S recognizing volunteers The Sussex County RSVP (Re- tired and Senior Volunteer Pro- gram) Advisory Committee's an- nual Recognition and Awards Banquet was held May 9, with the theme of Volunteer - It's a Healthy Lifestyle. Four-hundred-and-fifty a0R[t volunteers were honored W,tl)dtl lunch catered by Jimmy's Jle. Entertainment was providedoby the voices of the CHEERful Notes Glee Club and the Back Bay Strummers. Sen. Thomas Carper, Lt. Gov. John Carney and Rap. Joseph Booth presented special recogni- tion awards to Marjorie Knox and Margaret Lomax for their 25 years of service. Awards were also giv- cated service; Ruth Koenig for ex- emplary service; Jerry and Louise Peregoy for outstanding team; and to the Mason/Dixon Woodwork- ers for volunteer station of the year. Other special guests were Cyn- p B. L0vell, acting director of lBijt/e Service Cen- ter, rand, Dr. Elisha Oilier, admin- ,iator of the State Office of Vol- unteerism. Sussex RSVP is 1,000 adult volunteers strong. In 2002, these volunteers gave in excess of 200,000 uncompensated hours of community service to more than 95 nonprofit organizations throughout the county.
