Day cares and hospitals, currently, pass out in- formation to parents about the program, and Selby hopes to have a web page full of resources for par- ents and day care providers by the end of the sum- mer. "The first step is to get the word out that the Cape district is here and willing to help parents," said Sel- by. 'q'hen we can dialogues with day care providers, like this one. We need to communicate our expecta- tions for children entering kindergarten." I Day care providers sat in a semicircle during the raeeting and brainstormed about ways they and the district could work together to prepare children for school. Continued communication between the dis- trict and day care providers was the underlining theme of the meeting. The meeting generated three concrete goals, which will be the next steps in the partnership: kindergarten teachers and day care providers will work together to create a kindergarten visitation day, the district will hold a meeting with home care providers and the district will identify one person day care providers can call for information. Day care providers also expressed a desire for in- creased professional development and mentoring op- portunities, more resources for children with behav- ioral problems and parenting classes. The district and day care providers will come together again in June.
