Local author visits H.O. Brittingham
Local author Harvey Curtis Fen/more Jr. spoke to ILO.
Brittingham. Delaware history students on Monday, May 8
about Delaware h/story and Fenimore's writing experience.
Fenimore, a Delaware native currently living in Dover, has
written three children's books on Delaware history: Mike
and Marnie Learn About Delaware's Indians", WMi]ke and
Marnie Learn About Delaware's Symbols, Slogan, Name and
Nicknames" and Iike and Marnie Learn About Delaware's
Beginnings: The Earliest Settlers". The stories m'e recotmted
by a eharacter named "Grandad to his grandchildren- H.OJS.
fourth grade teacher Sara Wilkinson teaches Delaware histo-
ry to two fourth grade classes currently reading the series
and hosted Fenimore for his question and answer session.

Sen. Thurman Adams wins UD honor
State Senator Thurman Adams (D-Bridgeville) was one of five peo-
ple to receive a Medal of Distinction as approved by the University of
Delaware Board of Trustees.
Adams, a long-time legislator, serves as president of T.G. Adams &
Sons in Bridgeville.
The award recognizes individuals who have made humanitarian, cul-
tural, intellectual or scientific contributions to society, have achieved
noteworthy success in their professions or have given significant ser-
vice to the community, state or region.
