CAPE GAZETTE, Friday, June 2 - June 8, 1995 - 39 Miss Dela00",tre Pageant Saturoay in Rc'hoboth Beach 18 young women to vie for crown Eighteen young ladies will take to the stage of Rehoboth Conven- tion Hall this Saturday, June 3 at 8 p.m. to compete for the title of Miss Delaware 1995. The winner will go on to com- pete in the Miss America Pageant in Atlantic City, New Jersey in September. Letitia Pusey of Millsboro, Miss Delaware 1994, will crown the new Miss Delaware. The Miss Delaware Scholarship Pageant will also feature Miss America 1981, Susan Powell, who will serve as Mistress of Ceremonies and entertain. Also performing will be Jennifer Kaczmarczyk, Miss Delaware 1993, and Ann Marie Jarka-Hajjar, Miss Delaware 1987. Tickets for the June 3 Miss Delaware Pageant are available by calling Bill or Doris Collins at 302-539-9292. All contestants have already won scholarships at their local pageants. Miss Delaware 1995 will receive scholarships in excess of $6,000 from the Miss Delaware and Miss America orga- nizations to be used at the college of her choice. In addition, she is awarded a $5,000 tuition scholar- ship to Wesley College, a $4,000 tuition scholarship to Goldey- Beacom College, and a $41,000 tuition scholarship to the Palmer College of Chiropractic in Iowa. Six Sussex County women are among the eighteen candidates. They include Tricia McCrae, Miss Cape Henlopen; Jennifer Re- nee Archer, Miss Rehoboth; Su- sanne Ludwig, Miss First State, Georgiana Staley, Miss Sussex; Angela Nicole White, Miss Coun- ty Seat, and Joy Annette Hastings, Miss Millsboro. The entire field of candidates is as follows: MISS CAPE HENLOPEN Tricia Marie McCrae: Mc- Crae is a Cape Henlopen High School graduate who is attending University of Delaware and ma- joring in medical technology. Her talent performance will be a dance to the music "Somewhere Out There" and the theme of her Plat- form/Critical Issue portion is "Supporting Children With Men- tal Retardation." MISS FIRST STATE Susanne Elizabeth Ludwig: Ludwig is a Cape Henlopen High School graduate who is attending University of Delaware with a major in human resources. She will sing "Stormy Weather" as her talent performance and the theme of her Platform/Critical Issue por- tion is "Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect." MISS SUSSEX COUNTY Georgiana Staley: Staley graduated from Sussex Central High School and is attending Uni- versity of Delaware with a major in journalism and drama. She will sing "When I Look At You". The focus of her Platform/Critical Is- sue portion is "DECCASA-Pre- vention of Substance Abuse Among Children." MISS COUNTY SEAT Angela Nicole White: White graduated from Sussex Central High School and is attending Uni- versity of Delaware with a major in Elementary and Special Educa- tion. She will dance to "Luck Be A Lady Tonight" and the focus of her Platform/Critical Issue portion is "Promoting The Awareness of Drinking and Driving."
