kicks off
Chicken
Festival
A colorful street parade will
kick off activities at the Delmarva
Chicken Festival on Saturday,
June 10 in Federa]sburg, Md.
Stepping off at 10 a.m., the line
of march will include marching
hands, fire and police units and lo-
cal officials. The parade will form
on University Avenue and pro-
ceed through downtown Federals-
burg to the festival grounds at the
Recreation Park and Marina.
Kathleen Kennedy Townsend,
Maryland lieutenant governor,
will serve as the parade's grand
marshal. Following the parade,
Townsend will visit other festival
activities.
Crafters to appear
at Chicken Festival
The 47th Annual Delmarva
Chicken Festival will feature a
display and sale of arts, crafts and
eollectibles on the Federalsburg,
Md. festival grounds from 11 a.m.
to 8 p.m., Friday, June 9 and 10
a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday, June 10.
This year's Arts and Crafts
Show is organized by Betty Bal-
las, a Federalsburg, Md. resident
and community leader, who noted
that space is available, both cov-
ered and outdoors for vendors
wishing to display their work.

The Country Grass, a unique trio perform/ng a blend of
bluegrass, western folk, rock and original acoustic music, will
make a return appearance a the 47th Delmarva Chicken Fes-
tival June 9-10 in Federalsburg, Md.
Joining Townsend in the parade
line-up will be seven marching
bands including the U.S. Naval
Academy Band, the 229 Maryland
National Guard Band, the Kent
County Community Band and
bands from Caroline County
schools. Parade awards will be
presented at noon on the festival
grounds.
The Delmarva Chicken Festival
parade is being organized by Bet-
ty and Ben Happersett, Federals-
burg's "Mr. and Mrs. Parade".
