By Dave Frederick
The YMCA youth lacrosse team, comprised most-
ly of boys in the sixth to eighth grade, capped off a
successful season on Sunday afternoon, May 21, at
the University of Delaware by going a perfect 3-0 at
the second annual Delaware Youth Lacrosse Associ-
ation Tournament.
"At the beginning of the practice season we
couldn't even throw and catch and the improvement
has been amazing," said coach Tripp Wyatt. "With
the success at the high school and this feeder pro-
gram, Cape could turn into a hotbed for lacrosse."
Cape's three victories were over MOT 4-3,
Brandywine 2-0, and Newark 11-1. Attackman Ryan
Bunting paced the young laxmen on the afternoon
scoring nine goals. Billy Brennan went the distance
in goal in each of the three games.
Other members of the team coached by Tripp Wy-
att, Shawn Williams and Ron Nagowski (technical
assistance provided by Jeff Mohr and Steve Aubrey)
are: midfielders Derek B. Moore, Joe Cahil], Joe Car-
penter, Jamie Pratt, Phillip Williams, Chad Wyatt,
Edward Savarese, Zack Spicer, Chris Myers and
Kyle Archer. Attackmen included Wes Cox, David
Steele, Logan Short, Andrew Warrington and Ryan
Bunting. Defensemen are Jimmy Carpenter, Brett
Williams, Matt Hall and Mike Sekscinski.
"Some of these kids are already bigger than me,"
Wyatt said. "They are going to be awesome when
they get to high school."
