Sussex council meets evening of June 8 Sussex County Council will meet at 6:30 p.m.i Tuesday, June 8, in the county administration building, Georgetown. County Administrator Bob Stickels will discuss a funding re- quest and a community develop- ment strategy for First State Com- munity Action Agency of George- town. He will also discuss a pro- posed ordinance for introduction to implement House Bill 172, passed by the General Assembly in its 2003 session, which requires the county to adopt an ordinance to address the duty of individuals and artificial entities to erect and maintain signage on parking spaces and zones for the use of people with disabilities. Bob Stuart, deputy director of the county EMS program, will dis- cuss renewing an agreement be- twee n the county EMS and Delaware Tech. County Engineer Mike Izzo will present a bid award for Bay View and Sea Country Es- tams. Also, council will consider a change order for the T-hangar ex- pansion project at the county air- port. Council is set to vote on the fol- lowing old business land-use ap- plications: Tidewater Utilities Inc,,s conditional-use request 1520, Rehoboth Beach Associ- ates' conditional use request 1524 for land on Old Landing Road, Bay Forest LLC's zoning change request 1527, E.F. and Martha Quillen's zoning change request 1532, and Hailey/Pdbera Develop- ment's zoning change request 1533 for Hart's Landing on Love Creek. Rehoboth committee mulls dog ban Rehoboth Beach Commissioner Mark Aguirre confirmed there will be discussion about "limiting dog activities on the beach and Board- walk" in Rehoboth at the Board of Commissioner workshop meeting at 7 p.m., Monday, June 7. Aguirre said all discussion at this stage is informal, and the commit- tee is only at the data gathering stage. "We're using the committee process to discuss a delicate is- sue," said Aguirre. "We're col- lecting information and then it will go to the animal issues commis- sion." The proposal, which was initial- ly brought up by Commissioner Patti Shreeve, will not be voted on at the June 7 meeting, according to Aguirre. "There will be no imminent change in public policy," said Aguirre; "In fact, the proposal may die at [the commission] level. Useof the committee structure [to discuss and decide public policy issues] is more what this is about." "We have to use these commit- tees," said Aguirre. "I can't say for certain what's going to hap- pen.'" Only two candidates in Rehoboth field The filing deadline for the Re- hoboth Beach Board of Commis- sioners election is at noon, Satur- day, June 5. Patrick Gossett, who is running as a nonresident, and in- cumbent Richard Sargent, who is running as a resident, are currently the only candidates vying for the two seats on the commission up for election. Installed just before Memo- rial Day, the parking.permit vending machine - which ac- cepts major credit cards and cash, but does not give change - took in $122,000 over the holiday. The town's 155 parking meters took in $3,500, at the rate of 25 cents per 15 minutes.
