CAPE GAZETTE, Friday, June 7 - June 13, 1996 - 55 Back Porch featuring art of Cassie Taggart through June 18 By Dennis Forney Cassie Taggart of Virginia and Rehoboth Beach is currently showing two dozen paintings on the walls of the Back Porch on Re- hoboth Ave. The artist, 28, calls her paint- ings "folk art" in style. "They are mostly •psychological portraits of me and my family in interior spaces. Sort of like story-telling." Taggart's works are boldly col- ored and have an ethereal quality similar in mood to that brought These paintings by Cassie Taggart are on display, through June 18, at the Back Porch Restaurant in Rehoboth Beach. Lewes Post Office SuPlmis-Gimen Festival Continued from page 51 able to recognize the Lewes Chamber of Commerce for its sponsorship of this premiere horticultural event, the Lewes Festival of Gardens, in Lewes," said Judy George-Thompson, Lewes postmaster. The festival, also sponsored by the regional business community, combines tours of private gardens with an exciting day of family fun. Included are a garden market, lectures and demonstrations by the Asso- ciation of Professional Landscape Designers, entertainment for all ages, children's games, food vendors and raffle prizes. "This is a unique opportunity to combine the beauty of gardening forward in the literary works of such South American authors as Isabel Allende and Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Some of them show large faces with large animals fill- ing all the space of rooms; others show a solitary nude figure in a variety of interior household set- tings. Each invites the viewer to consider the figure in its setting and the relationship between the two. Taggart received her art educa- tion at Virginia Commonwealth where she earned a Bachelor's of Fine Arts. She builds most of her own frames and paints them with colors drawn from the paintings. The artist also does some sculpting and has pieces in the Re- hoboth Art League Crafts Exhibit which opens Friday, June 7 in the Corkran and Tubbs Galleries. Book signing at Del.
