19:20 and my prediction will see
Hall return to his old form and
drop times dramatically...
Series sponsor Wayne Carroll
of the Jason Corporation was sec-
ond in the 45-49 age group in
18:47, while Pat Hogan captured
the 45-49 age group in
22:04...Dick Hipp ran a good time
of 18:53 to win the 55-59 age
group, while Dr. Lee "Sorry, I'm
in surgery" Masser took third in
the 60 & over age group in 25:05.
Results
The fourth stop on the Seashore
Strider Racing Series took place
in Rehoboth Beach last Sunday
morning as the County Bank 5K
attracted a crowd of 116 finishers.
Thirty-six-year-old Jim Griffith
of the Annapolis Stiders moved
into the lead just before the two
mile mark and never looked back
to cross the finish line in a time of
16:23.1. Maureen Hall, 31,
cruised to the overall women's
championship with a 15th place
finish in an excellent time of
18:28.0 to finish almost two min-
utes ahead of the next female
competitor.
Paul Dawson of South Carolina
continued to make the day long
trip as he captured the Master
Championship in a time of
17:08.8 by finishing in fourth
place. Triathlon specialist Ginny
Hitz won the women's Master
Championship in a time of
20:23.9 for 32nd place.
Highlights through the age-
group awards are as follows:
Maureen Hall becomes the fifth
female already this summer to
break the nineteen minute barrier
and my goal by the end of the
summer is to get all of them to-
gether on the starting line(for

Matt Riggin ran his best of

Championships this Sunday at 2
p.m. from Cape Henlopen High
School.
Athletes must be between the
ages of 9-14 and can compete in
the following events: 50m, 100m,
200m, 400m, 800m, 1600m,
400m relay, softball throw, and
standing long jump.
The top three finishers in each
event will advance to the state fi-
nals to be held at Lake Forest
High School in early July.
There is no entry fee for the ath-
letes, just he at the track by 1 p.m.

istration you've ever seen.
SPLITS...Tomorrow morning,
June 8, in Smyrna, I will direct the
second annual Shamrock Runa-
muc 5k run hosted by Tully's Bar
and Rolling Rock. Last year's
event attracted 26 runners and 25
walkers for the even t and organiz-
er Scan McCormick is hoping to
double the size for this year...On
Sunday morning, June 9th, will be
the Grotto Pizza 5K Run begin-
ning at 8:30 a.m. from the Grotto
Grand Slam in Lewes.
Runners can register race-day
from 7:30 a.m. to 8:20 a.m. at the
Grotto location on Route One.
The course will be run from Grot-
to's to the shoulder of Route 275
and will turn around in the Planta-
tions Development.
Plantations, unlike beautiful
Gosling Creek, has granted this
public, non profit, charitable
event permission to use there de-
velopment as a turn-a-round point
for in which runners consisting of
all classes of local people will en-
ter and exit their land all in a mat-
ter of eight minutes.
