Cape Henlopen Senior Center's summer bazaar set
Ceramics, crafts, baked goods and white elephant items will be up for
sale during the Cape Henlopen Senior Center's annual summer bazaar,
scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Friday, July 7. Refreshments will
also be available.
The center is located at 11 Christian Street in Rehoboth Beach.

June 9.
Annual Delmarva Chicken Fest set June 9-10
The historic town of Berlin,
Md. is ready to welcome the 52nd
Delmarva Chicken Festival this
weekend. The two-day event, set
for June 9-10 will be held on
Main Street in downtown Berlin.
Activities will get underway at
11 a.m. Friday, when food con-
cessions, exhibits a home and
trade show, and arts and crafts
show and sale will open to the
public. Official opening cere-
monies with Berlin mayor Rex
Hailey and other state and local
dignitaries will take place on the
festival's main stage at 6 p.m.,
Friday.
The festival's trademark giant
frying pan, operated by Berlin Li-
ons Club, will be ready to cook
several tons of delicious chicken.
There will be barbecued chicken
prepared by the Berlin Fire Com-
pany and many other food con-
cessions serving up a variety of
chicken dishes, accompaniments,
desserts and beverages.
Family entertainment will in-
clude carnival rides and games,
dancers, musicians, a book sale, a
puppet show and baby chicks. On
Friday, the Country Grass and the
Zydecats will perform, while Sat-
urday's headliners include the
String Dusters, C.C. Rider and,
for a finale, The Convertibles.
The latter group will take the
stage at 7 p.m. for a four-hour
show that will include street
dancing, contests and plenty of
memories from the 50s and 60s.
There will be egg-citement Sat-
urday morning when a local radio
station sponsors an egg drop in-
volving 160 lucky participants.
From 9 a.m. until 5 p.m., Satur-
day, Berlin's Main Street Special
will run between Berlin and Bish-
op, Md. Roundtrip tickets for the
scenic trip are $5 each. On Satur-
day afternoon, Chicken Capers
will allow contenders of all ages
to match skills in a chicken
scratch, egg toss and spoon race.
Other Saturday competitions will
include a chicken leg contest for
men only, and a rooster crowing
contest.
Throughout the event, the
Berlin Post Office will offer a
special cancellation stamp for the
52nd Delmarva Chicken Festival,
the Ocean City Christian School
will sell ,the fourth edition com-
memorative Delmarva Chicken
Festival commemorative basket.
Parking with shuttle service to the
downtown area will be provided
at sites in and around Berlin. For
