CAPE GAZETTE, Friday, June 13 - June 19, 2003 - 97 Summer solstice celebration slated for Rehoboth June 21 Lightspun Gallery and Re- hoboth Beach Massage and Bodyworks will host a summer solstice celebration, Saturday, June 21 in Gingerbread Square, featuring the bold, colorful acrylic and mixed media paint- ings on canvas by artist Christina Love and the alternative process, black and white photography ex- hibit Sights of Sound by photog- rapher Pamela Montague. Both exhibits will hang tlrough the month of June. An artist reception will be held from 3 to 7 p.m., June 21. Refreshments will be served throughout the afternoon and during the reception. Love spent close to exactly half her life as a "country mouse," growing up in a small upstate New York town called Coming. The second half .her4ife was an urban journey through a series of cities including San Francisco, Paris, Madrid, Boston and New York After a fire destroyed her home and studio in Manhattan, she decided to set up residence full time in Rehoboth Beach. She studied at the University of Cali- fornia at Berkeley and Harvard University, followed by the School of Visual Arts and the Art Student's League in New York. Montague was born in 1969 in southern Delaware. She discov- ered her love for the arts early, en- hanced by childhood travel through the Eastern seaboard, the hills and mountains of Kentucky and the bayou lands of Louisiana. Through her life, a camera was always in her hands. Her black and whiie collections are on ex- hibit throughout Delaware, Mary- land and Pennsylvania; in addi- tion, there are several commis- sioned pieces in many states across the U.S. Her true passion is the classic black and white art form of photography, reflecting totals, landscapes and handcol- ored images.
