. CAPE GAZE'rrE, Friday, June 19.. June 25,1998 - 29 Lewes American Legion Post installs officers, presents awards The William T. Spooner American Legion Post in Lewes installed new officers during a special meeting on Friday, June 5. The men who will be leading the post over the next 12 months are shown above, left. In the back row are (l-r) Dan Lynch, sergeant at arms; Gerald Schools, ser- vice officer;, Bob Shute, histo- rian, for whom Larry Crain stood in; James Pennell, chaplain; and Ron Kolos, judge advocate and finance officer. In front are (l-r) Ter- ry Baum, adjutant; Raymond Lambert, second vice com- mander; Joseph Stewart, first vice commander; Dale Nauman, past commander; and Joseph Szefler, comman- der. Above, right, Ernie Lynch receives a plaque recogniz- ing him as the first Lewes cit- izen drafted into service at the beginning of World War II. Post Adjutant Terry Baum presented the plaque, which recognizes Lynch as the first draftee from the first town in the First State. Baum is shown here reading the plaque to Lynch as Lynch's son, Dan, looks on. New officers for the ladies auxiliary of the William T. Spooner American Legion Post in Lewes were installed as well. Delaware Depart- ment President Millie Morris, left, presided over the cere- monies and is shown here in- stalling Betty Dunn as presi- dent for the next 12 months. Other new officers, shown in back, are (l-r) Grace Tindle, treasurer; Diane Szefler, sergeant at arms; Suzy Mar- tin, historian; Candy Nau- man, vice president; and Ethel Stewart, secretary. Below, Jim Sanders, de- tachment commander for the Delaware chapter of the Sons of the American Legion, in- stalled new officers for the William T.
