Dickinson St. & the Bay JDDER 227-3888 mlmmmm The Roadhouse serves up a wide selection of steaks and rotisserie items. Take your dad to the Roadhouse for dinner on Father's Day, June 21 Head the whole family up and move 'em out to The Roadhouse Steak Joint the next time you have a hankerin' for fresh, center-cut, top-grade USDA Choice steaks. The Roadhouse opened its doors in May 1993 at its Route 1 location in the Midway Shopping Center and word of its offerings has traveled as quickly as the Pony Express. Owners Pete and Cindy Townsend spared no expense in decorating the expansive restaurant with western artifacts and stuffed moose heads, bears, etc., which provide a warm, casual atmosphere. Buckets of free peanuts grace each table and the bar - patrons are expected to toss the shells on the hard- wood floors. The foremost attraction at the Roadhouse is the wide selection of steaks on the menu, known as Country Dan's Selections: The City Slicker (a New York strip), The Texan (a filet mignon), The Posse Porterhouse, The Rustler's Delight Delmonico, The Cowboy chopped sirloin and the famous 52-ounce Porterhouse. A new addition to the menu is The Rotisserie Round-Up, mouth-watering, slow-cooked selections that are guaranteed to set your taste buds on end. Rotisserie items include the Yard Bird (a half chick- en seasoned and slow-cooked in the rotisserie dis- play); the Rotisserie Pig Platter (pork loin served with Roadhouse gravy); and the Barnyard Combo (a half chicken and a rack of baby back ribs with gravy). Appetizers feature the Onion Head, a fresh whole onion, sliced and deep fried with batter, or deep fried rattlesnake for the brave! Patrons can now order from separate lunch and dinner menus, so the extensive list of appetizers, sal- ads, sandwiches and burgers is even larger than ever. The North Forty Burgers are very popular any time of day as is the Cowpoke sliced steak sandwich and Stagecoach chicken sandwich. Also, don't forget the Roadhouse burgers, filet mignon sandwiches or foot-long hot dogs, with or without chili. The Lunch Wagon menu, served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, boasts four salads i such as the shrimp or chicken salad, four hot sand- wiches, beef or chicken kabobs and special Texas gourmet pizza with a Caesar salad. Salads are always an all-time favorite menu item at The Roadhouse - the heaping greens are available in several varieties such as The Roadhouse Salad with beef and chicken, the Caesar salad or the tossed grilled chicken salad. Kids are always welcome; there are plenty of options on The Roadhouse kids' menu. Another relatively new addition to The Road- house menu are the gourmet Texas pizzas. Each piz- za is made fresh daily for $7.50 each. Four varieties are offered; choose from the BBQ Shrimp and Chicken (with shrimp, chicken, diced red onion, sun-dried tomatoes, BBQ sauce, provolone, moz- zarella and basil);-the Vegetable (a whole wheat crust with assorted peppers, sun-dried tomatoes, onions, mushrooms, cactus and ricotta cheese); the Chicken Fajita (with. salsa, cheddar, Monterey jack, saut6ed onion and green pepper, marinated chicken and a dab of sour cream and guacamole) or the Armadillo (served on a jalapefio crust with salsa, andouille Cajun sausage, green peppers, cactus, pro- volone and mozzarella). The Roadhouse Steak Joint: Route One, Mid- way. Open for lunch and dinner. Hours: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
