The local Red Cross of- fers water safety classes, car- diopulmonary resuscitation and first aid courses, baby sitter training, pet first aid and other life-saving skills. In addition, Red Cross online training is now available - trainees learn at their own pace, on their own time. Dog infor- mation will be freely available. There is no admission charge, but various fees for entering dogs in the different events. A photographer will be on hand. A conformation match show is a practice run for the real thing. Knowledgeable people but not necessarily American Kennel Club (AKC)-approvecl judges go over the dogs and award wins. No AKC championship points are awarded, but many of the winners at this event have be- come champions. An obedience match and rally obedience do the same for competitors. Dogs en- tered in all these events must be registered or eligible for registra- tion with the AKC. The AKC Canine Good Citi- zenship (CGC) test shows a dog's good temperament, steadi- ness and willingness to follow basic obedience commands to make it truly a canine good citi- zen. The CGC certificate is be- ing used more and more in for- mulating state and local dog laws. Those that pass can order a CGC dog tag and other identifi- cation as a CGC-certified dog. Rehoboth Beach Kmart  I0 a.m. to 2 p.m. Owners entering a dog in the CGC must bring proof of the dog's license and rabies vaccina- tion. Microchips will be admin- istered by experienced veteri- nary technicians, providing a permanent way to identify any dog should it ever get lost. Any dog, mixed breed or purebred, is eligible for the CGC and mi- crochipping. Everyone is welcome, rain or shine; all dogs must be on leash- es. There will be information available on all phases of dog care and training, and club mem- bers to answer questions. Visi- tors should bring their own chairs.
