Os- prey Watch programs will be conducted at 9"30 a.m., Mondays, June 29, July 6 and July 13. Partic- ipants should meet at the picnic pavilion at Savages Ditch Road on the bay side of Route 1 about 1 mile north of the Indian River Inlet. Nesting sites on Rehoboth Bay will be observed with a spot- tang scope. This program will in- clude learning how to identify osprey, how they fish, preferred nesting sites and how they care for their young. Information about recent satellite tracking studies of their migration will be discussed. Participants should wear sunscreen and bring binoc- ulars if available, though the nat- uralist will have a few binoculars to loan. There is no fee for this program. Ghost Crab Saunters will be conducted at 8".30 p.m., each Fri- day evening in July and August. Visitors should meet a naturalist at the Indian River Life-Saving Station Museum and bring a flashlight to spot these elusive creatures as they scurry over the sand on the beach. Ghost crabs are typically noc- turnal and spend most of their life on land, though they are quite comfortable in the surf. The program lastS approximate- ly an hour. There is no fee. Due to popular demand, Delaware Seashore State Park will now be offering Seining the Bay three times each week. Starting June 23, seining will be offered every Tuesday and Fri- day at 1".30 p.m. and every Thurs- day at 10 a.m. During this pro- gram, participants will help drag a 30-foot net through the calm, shallow waters of Rehoboth Bay to catch fish, crabs and other ma- fine critters. The fee for this program is $4 per person and space is limited, so participants must preregister by calling the Indian River Life- Saving Station Museum. Delaware Seashore State Park also offers opportunities to en- counter a broad variety of wildlife and other natural fea- tures through pontoon boat tours conducted each Thursday in july and August and .through kayak tours on Rehoboth Bay conducted each Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday starting June 23. These are fee programs, and reservations are strongly recom- mended for the pontoon boat tours and required for the kayak tours. The Indian River Life:Saving Sta- tion Museum and one of the area's most unique gift shops are open from 8 a.m. to 4"30 p.m. dai- ly through Oct. 31. Tours of the restored Life-Saving Station, lo- cated just north of the Indian River Inlet Bridge on Route 1, are available daily.
