I l Mama Mafia continues to c lFti00r authentic Italian cuisine at its Dewey Beach location The Largione family has established the reputa- tion of serving up some of the area's most authentic Italian cuisine at both their Milford and Dewey Beach Mama Maria Italian Ristorante locations. Owners Joe and Rosalia Largione aloqg with their four children Marianna, Manuela, FranCe, and Salvatore are in the midst of their fourth year at their Rt. 1 and McKinley Street in Dewey Beac h loca- tion, Milford residents have been indulging in the fine Italian cuisine at Mama Mafia in theMilford Village Shopping Center for I 1 years. Mama Maria in Dewey Beach wrapped up the remodeling of their bar and take out area in March of 1996 and the Dewey crowd has responded with nothing but praise. / The Largiones decided to install all new booths, a new bar, new floors and new counters but the oth- er dining area remains the same. The Mama Maria menu lacks nothing yap would expect from a fine Italian eatery. The family owned and operated restaurant specializes in pasta, veal, seafood, baked dishes, cold subs, cheeststeaks, appetizers and between 35 and 40 different pizzas! Some of the most popular homemade pizzas include the Dewey Light (stuffed with ricotta, egg- plant ziti, tomato sauce and mozzarella), the Chica- go Style (stuffed with pepperoni, mushrooms, sausage, mozzarella and tomato sauce) and the Bianca (with mozzarella, ricotta, garlic, tomato, broccoli or spinach). Popular homemade entr6es include the fried r calamari, the stuffed rigatoni, the chicken parmi- giana, the bruschetta-an Italian roll with fresh toma- toes, garlic, basil and olive oil baked in the oven, and the lasagna and the seafood combination fra diavlo. Just to offer a picture of how extensive the Mama Maria menu really is, six veal dishes are available and all are served with spaghetti, salad and bread. "Me and my brother and my mom and my dad and my sisters - we are all here everyday. There is always one of us in the kitchen, one of us in the bar, one of us in the pizza area - we really are here all of the time," France added. Mama Mafia is well-known as "the home of the $1 draft" and has gained quite a following thanks to that namesake. The establishment also has a full offering of var- ious wines and beers to suit almost anyone's taste and budget. The take-out area is even open until 4 a.m. on the weekends, offering some of the resort's top quality late night munchies. "We asked our customers why they keep coming back and they say it's because we are very homey, comfortable and mellow," said France.
