Nominations sought for Delaware Woman of Achievement Award Nominations are now being ac- cepted for the Delaware Woman of Achievement Award. The award is presented to a woman who has made outstanding contri- butions to her community and has served as a positive role model for Delaware's young women. The woman selected as Delaware's Woman of Achieve- ment, as well as the three honor- able-mention winners, will repre- sent the best role models for young women in Delaware. Nom inations are due by Aug. 15. As part of the Miss America Or- ganization, The Delaware's Woman of Achievement Award was created by the Miss Diamond State Scholarship Organization to honor women in the community who embody the characteristics, beliefs and values promoted by the Miss America Organization. The nominations will be judged on tbe nominee's significant con- tributions to her community, length of service and likelihood that service will continue. The nominees will also be judged on the effect they have had on Delaware's women or significant strides they have made for Delaware's women. her name. In addition, a full-page article and photo will appear in the Miss Diamond State Pageant program book highlighting the winner's achievements. The three honorable-mention winners will also appear in the Miss Diamond State Pageant pro- gram book. A donation will be made to the charity of the winner's choice in Mills party set near Lewes to feature music, raffles There will be a party in honor of Lynn Gromis Mills, who is recov- ering from recent aortic valve re- placement, beginning at 5 p.m., Sunday, June 28, at Lewes Senior Center, Nassau Park, off Rt. 1. Mills, who has been employed at the Sussex Family YMCA and involved with the children's pro- grams there, is only 44 years old, so the need for the emergency surgery came as a shock to her and her family. Friends such as Mary Phillips are organizing the party in her honor in an effort to help her defray the high cost Of her med- ical bills.
