22 -CAPE GAZETTE, Friday, Jufle 26 = 'ttly 2,1998 Interfaith Mission repairs seven Sussex County homes Interfaith Mission of Sussex County rehabilitated seven homes in several Sussex communities during June 18-21. Volunteers, including a number of teenagers, spruced up homes in Belltown, Frankfort, Clarksville and Millsboro. They painted hous- es, unstuck windows, fixed doors, repaired lights and did general overhauls, including an almost complete rehabilitation of one mobile home. "They were really nice," said Mildred Holloman, 93, of Bell- town. Holloman, who looks at least 20 years younger, said the volunteers repaired a rickety rail- ing and helped unstick a window at her home. "You couldn't ask for anybody any nicer," she said. Holloman's home was one of two repaired in the Belltown area. She said some work still remains to be done, but said the improve- ments are appreciated greatly. "It is a lot of hard work, but it is very rewarding...It is just good for everybody," said Roger Jolly of Limestone Presbyterian Church near Wilmington. Some 30 volun- teers, mostly from the Wilmington church, did the work. Jolly direct- ed the efforts. "It really went well," said Inter- faith Mission's Kathy Minor. "An awful lot happened in those days." Interfaith's efforts address the needs of the elderly and other families who cannot afford to pay for the materials or labor to im- prove their living conditions. The group had targeted 10 potential home sites and fixed seven homes. "For more information about In- terfaith Mission of Sussex County Inc., call 302-537-9773.
