Resuming his high- way department career in 1946, he became Kent County resident en- gineer, chief engineer and finally director of highways, where he played a large part in the design of the Delaware interstate system and the second Delaware Memori- al Bridge. Mr. Haber left the de- partment for brief periods to work as a consultant as a partner in a lo- cal engineering firm, designing the unique dual-usage race track at Dover Downs. An avid fisher- man and hunter, Mr. Haber knew the fields and waterways of Delaware extremely well. In re- tirement, he ran his own consult- ing and engineering firm, special- izing in expert witness work on highway construction, property surveys and highway-related acci- dent cause and prevention. Mr. Haber was a member of the American Society of Civil Engi- neers, National Society of Profes- sional Engineers, Delaware Engi- neering Society, Delaware Asso- ciation of Professional Engineers, American Road and Transporta- tion Builders Association, Associ- ation of Highway and Transporta- tion Officials North Atlantic States, Tau Beta Pi, Scottish Rite of Freemasonry - Delaware Con- sistory, National Sojourners Blue Hen Chapter 382, First State Shrine Club, Nur Temple of Wilmington and St. James Lodge. Mr. Haber's wife, Anne Ainsworth Haber, died in 1976, as did one son in 1945. He married Wilsie Cubbage in 1985, who sur- vives him, along with one son, Richard Haber and his wife, Phyl- lis; a brother, Edward Haber; two stepsons, Clifford Cubbage and wife Lorri, and Jeffrey Cubbage; two grandchildren; two great- grandchildren; and four step- grandchildren. A memorial service was held at Torbert Funeral Chapel, Dover. Burial was private. Contributions are suggested to either Delaware Hospice, Georgetown DE 19947, or the Lewes Fire Department Ambulance Squad, Lewes DE 19958. Marion Horter Bateman, senior center director Marion Horter Bateman, 79, of Lewes, died Sunday, June 28, 1998, at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. Mrs. Baternan was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church, where she developed and coordinated the Children's Church Service Program held during the Adult Worship Hour. For the past several years, she taught Bible class at the Lewes Senior Center following her retirement as direc- tor of the center. She also worked on Saturdays with children with disabilities at Harbor Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center. She and her husband moved to Lewes from Springfield, Vt., in 1976. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, John "Jack" Bateman; a daughter, Martha Louise Yager of Henniker, N.H.; a brother, Ed- ward Honer of South River, N.J.; and three grandchildren. Services were held at Bethel United Methodist Church, Lewes, with burial private. Contributions are suggested to Bethel United Methodist Church, W. 4th St., Lewes DE 19958. She is survived by a sister, Cathy Walker of Dagsboro; and three aunts, Ruth Hahn of Utica, N.Y., Helen E. Bailey and Buena M. Hyatt-Kling, both of Lewes. Arrangements by Parsell Funer- al Homes & Crematorium, Lewes. William C. Dorman, dairy and land farmer William C. Dorman, 93, of rural Lewes, died Friday, June 26, 1998, of cancer at home. Mr. Dorman was a well-known dairy and land farmer and was al- so employed for many years by Best Farm Equipment Company of Nassau. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Alice L. Dorman; a son, Donald W. of Bel Air, Md.; two daughters, Mary Lou Dickson and Barbara Dorman, both of Lewes; two grandsons, Charles W.
