92 - CAPE GAZETTE, Friday, July 3 - July 9, 1998 Annual Cape Concert returns with cannons to Summer Arts Festival With fireworks to light up the night and music to light up the soul, the Delaware Symphony will present its annual Cape Concert at the University of Delaware&apos;s 1998 Summer Arts Festival in Lewes on Saturday, June 11. Music director Stephen Gun- zenhauser will conduct and the Lancaster Cannon Co. will fire its 16 vintage cannons during the playing of the "1812 Overture." A fireworks display will conclude the evening. The symphony performance is sponsored by PNC Bank. The raindate for the performance is Sunday, July 12, at the same time and place. A presymphony concert by the Sin City Band will begin the evening at 5:30 p.m., and audi- ence members are encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs and a picnic or to purchase dinner on the grounds. Tentative program for the sym- phony includes the "Royal Fire- works Music"; the "Fort Delaware March"; the music Of Billy Joel; "Yesterday," by the Beatles; and a medley from "A Chorus Line." Advance tickets for the Cape Concert are $12 for adults and $6 for children 12 and under. Tickets purchased the day of the concert are $14 for adults and $8 for chil- dren under 12. Patron seating is available by calling 855-1620. Advance tickets are available at the Lewes Chamber of Commerce office, 120 Kings Highway; at all UD box offices in Newark; and at the university's Southern Delaware offices at 69 Trans- portation Circle in Dover and Route 18 at the Carter Partnership Center in Georgetown. Tickets may be charged with MasterCard or Visa by calling 855-1620. Photography exhibit opens in Carvel Building Peter B. Kaplan has spent much of his professional photographic ca- reer capturing bird's-eye-view images of cultural and architectural icons around the nation. This summer, some of this work, as well as im- ages he's recorded in Delaware, will be shown at the Delaware Division of the Arts' Mezzanine Gallery, in the Carvei State Office Building, in Wilmington.
