Homemade goodness is wt i,tt you'll f'md at Holly's in tl00e Midway Shopping Center From breakfast basics to tasty lunch and dinner choices and homemade ice cream, Holly's Restau- rant is open from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m. daily at its Midway Shopping Center location. Opened just this past month, Holly's Delaware location is its second restaurant on the Eastern Shore. Located on Rt. 50 in Kent Island, Md. near the Bay Bridge, the popular family eatery has been open since 1955, when Thomas EWing founded the business. 42 years later, Thomas' grandson Ward Ewing, along with his wife Kim, have re-located to Sussex County and started their own business. The restaurant has remained a family-owned operation over the years and developed a solid repu- tation for serving old-fashioned food at reasonable prices. Holly's, open year-round, will feature many of the recipes used to create the homemade dishes that come from his grandmother's kitchen. Diners perusing the menu for the first time will want to make note that those items marked with a holly leaf are original 1955 recipes. Breakfast offerings include early morning favorites like scrapple, steak and eggs, cream chipped beef, French Toast and the Shoreman's Breakfast (two pancakes, two eggs cooked any style, two slices of bacon and two sausage links). For lunch, Holly's has a sandwich to suit anyone. From the Hollyburger (two quarter pound pure beef burgers on a Texas steak roll and fixed up with the works) to Holly's famous crab cake sandwich (pan fried, deep fried or broiled), all the bases are cov- ered. Holly's turkey sandwich can't be surpassed for freshness. The restaurant uses only fresh whole turkey breast, which is roasted dally and piled high on your choice of bread. Also of note is the triple decker club sandwich, which can be made with turkey and bacon or ham and cheese. Other sandwich selections include the shrimp, chicken salad and tuna salad sandwich, as well as the hot turkey or roast beef sandwich. If a salad suits you, there are several to choose from. Holly's Chef Salad (at $6.75 its the best sell- ing salad on the menu) is more than enough to make a meal, while the jumbo tossed sdlad for $4.25 and its smaller sister salad for $2.25 are also sure to please. Diners can also enjoy a grilled chicken or grilled tuna salad for under seven dollars. For dinner, its a seafood smorgasbord of entr6es that is Holly's specialty. The Shore Special heads the list of choices, and consists of three pieces of fried chicken and a crab cake. Diners can also enjoy a 12-ounce.top sirloin strip steak grilled to order with five jumbo sized fried shrimp or two "whale- sized" soft shell crabs breaded and deep fried. All dinners include two vegetables, bread and your choice of a cup of Holly's homemade soup or a tossed salad. The restaurant also features homemade ice cream and a mouthwatering selection of baked desserts. Holly's Restaurant: Located in the Midway Shopping Center, Lewes. Specializes in family dining.
