Dqaaware State Fair to open July 17 The Delaware State Fair, slated for Thursday, July 17 to Saturday, July 26 in Harrington has an- nounced its schedule of concerts and programs for this year's event. Tickets still remain for some of the fair's headliners, though Alan Jackson fans are in for a disappointment as the July 25 show with special guest Leman Rimes has sold out. To order tickets, send a check or money order to Delaware State Fair, Box 28, Harrington, DE 19952. Tickets are assigned on the basis of best available seat in the category selected. If the category is sold out, the next best available seat will be sent with a refund. Or- ders received after July 14 will be held atthe ticket window. No tick- ets will be mailed without prior payment, mad show tickets do not include the cost of gate admission to the fair. All mail and phone or- der tickets will be assessed a $3 handling fee. Here's a partial list of activities and events: Thursday, July 17 - free gate ad- mission this night only. Giant Demolition Derby high- lights the evening, beginning at 7:30 p.m. General admission is $5 for adults, mad $3 for children un- der 10. Clubhouse tickets are $5 and unreserved grandstand bleachers are $6. Midway - Strates Shows, open at 7 p.m. Percheron Hitch Team, Quillen Arena, 7 p.m. Tastee Freez Delaware Cheer- leading Championship, Quillen Arena, 7 p.m. Friday, July 18 Official opening O f the 1997 Delaware State Fair, 5 p.m. Midway, Strates Shows mad 4- H mad FFA exhibit area opens, 5 .m. Championship Stock Car Races, 7:15 p.m. Tickets are $10 for general admission; $15 for clubhouse and reserved grand- stand; and $12 for unreserved grandstand bleachers.
