Bulls Win Lewes Minor LeagUe" championship The Bulls, sponsored by the Parrothea*js, took the Lewes Minor League Championship this season, with a record of 10- 3-1. Sussex Family Y swimmers qualify for championships On Nionday, July 7, the Sussex Aug. 2. In order for swimmers to Family YMCA Summer Swim Team competed in their first meet of the season against Lewes Yacht Club. Swimmers representing the YMCA were Colleen Cannatelli, Gabby Hairy, Troy Cannatetti, Conor O'Hollaren, Danielle Renken, Betsy Hicks, Kristin Cannatelli, Nathaniel Norton, David Norton, Jenn Hicks and Gfirret King. This is the first year the YMCA has had a summer team. The championships for the Delmarva Swim Association will be held qualify, they must meet a time standard set by the Association. The following swimmers quali- fied in their first meet of the sea- son: Troy Cannatelli, 8 and under, 25 backstroke;. Danielle Renken, 10 and under; 25 butterfly and 25- free; Betsy Hicks, 10 and under, 25 back and 25 free; and Jenn Hicks, age 13-14, 50-back, 50- free and 100 individual medley. The next meet will take place on July 14 against Maple Dale in Dover. Mid-Atlantic Lifesaving Championships set July 16 The 1997 USLA Mid-Atlantic Lifesaving Championships will be held Wednesday, July 16 in Re- hoboth Beach, at Baltimore Av- enue and the Boardwalk. The beach will be closed to the public between the Rehoboth Av- enue and Baltimore Avenue groins the entire day. The competition is open to all active USLA members. A USLA registration booth will be set up at the event to allow competitors to pay their membership dues ($25). The entry fee is $20 per com- petitor, and registration begins at 8:30 a.m. An official program will be sent on request by calling the Re- hoboth Beach Patrol headquarters at 227-2280. All chapter represen- tatives will receive the program. For information, call 227-7161 YMCA offers tennis lessons The Sussex Family YMCA is offering a new tennis program for - anyone interested in learning or improving "their tennis game. In- structor Michael Smith will offer private, semi private or group lessons to persons of all ages and ability. Smith has 25 years playing experience and 15 years of teach- ing experience. The program will run through Aug. 16. Lessons will be available seven days a week in one and a half hour increments, beginning at 6 a.m. to noon and from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Stop by the Y to register. Participants must have their own racket. Lewes-Rehoboth Rotary wins Habitat tourney. The Lewes-Rehoboth Rotary golf team of Jim Beebe, Bob Lore, Mike Makowski and Billy Martin won the Habitat for Humanity Golf Tournament held at Cripple Creek Country Club on Monday, June 16. Each member of the team won $100 for the effort and Martin toolc an additional prize for winning the Closest To The Flag competition.
