Joe Murabito has one of the best gardens around! Gardens throughout Delaware's Cape Region are coming into full bloom now and starting to produce corn, tomatoes, beans, squash, onions and other vegetables. Joe Murabito of Lewes, com- ing on to his 80th birthday, produces one of the area's great gardens at his Bradley Street property in Lewes. 'rI have all of my family and neighbors to supply. I'd rather do this than cut the grass. It takes me about three hours a day but I enjoy it all." Murabito has rows of sev- eral varieties of tomatoes in- cluding one long-bearing va- riety that produces large fruits right up until mid-Oc- tober. Lately Murabito's been plagued by unusually large numbers of wildlife who are as fond of what he produces. Despite fences around his garden and nets over his ever-bearing straw- berries, Murabito has to maintain his guard to keep raccoons, rabbits, birds and deer away from his plants. "Rabbits love the beans and last week I lost a whole row of corn to raccoons. I like the animals but I don't like them eating my crops."
