CAPE G, Friday, July 14 - July 20, 2000 - t00aF,q's Senior League teams try to survive in loser's brac e: By Dave Frederick The Cape Senior League soft- ball team became a loser on the winner's field last Wednesday night, July 12, as Woodbridge scored seven runs in the top of the seventh inning and held off Cape 8-3. Cape must now fight back from the loser's bracket for a Monday rematch against home- town Woodbridge, who will sit and wait for the loser's bracket surviver. Cape must advance to Monday and then beat Wood- bridge on consecutive nights to repeat as District III champions. Lindsey Williams went 2-for-4 for Cape including knocking in an RBI. Morgan Emberton went 3- for-4 for Woodbridge. Last Tuesday night, Cape walked the "doggie-dog" on Millsboro, winning 22-1. Blair Rodgers went the distance to pick up the win. Lindsay Williams was 4-for-5 while Maren Ford, Jen Carter and Jenna Pavlik all has three hits. BOYS SENIOR LEAGUE - Last Wednesday night, July 12, in Georgetown, Morgan Ellis pitched a two-hitter as Cape beat Lower Sussex 10-1 in a loser's bracket game. Cape fell to the loser's bracket by virtue of a 7-5 loss to Georgetown at Millsboro last Tuesday night. I J ! LEWES MAJOR LEAGUE BOYS ALL STARS - The Lewes Major League All-Star 11-12- year-old boys team was recently announced. Members of the team include: Tommy Bed, Billy Cun- ningham, Chris Donges, Travis Dorman, Jimmy Gill, Ray Jack- son, Jay Marsh, Bryan Pedan, Steve Peet, Jamarr Tabron, Sean Tappan, Tyler Townsend, Kyle Wharton and Brett Wilkinson. They are managed by Ed Gill and coached by Tom Peet and Mike Tappan. They play their first game at 8 p.m. on Friday, July 21, against Laurel at the Rehoboth Little League Complex. LEWES MAJOR LEAGUE GIRLS ALL-STARS - Lewes Little League Girls Major League Softball recently named its all- star team for 2000. Members of the team include: Katie Beck, Katelyn Buchwald, Elizabeth Carpenter, Laura Carpenter, Amanda DeLoy, Sloane Doud, Katelyn Fanto, Kira Herbst, Caitlin Hopkins, Stephanie Hop- kins, Jessie Shinn, Mary Sing, Kelsey Spence, Mallory Talbot. They play their first game at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 22, against Rehoboth at the Milton Little League Complex. Coaches are Steve Fanto and Tom Shinn.
