Late Obituaries Jerome J. King, maintenance supervisor Jerome J. King, 61, of Re- hoboth Beach, died Wednesday, July 26, 2000, at University of Pennsylvania Medical Center in Philadelphia. Born in Newport, he was an as- sociate member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7447, Re- hoboth Beach, and a member of American Legion Post 5, also of Rehoboth Beach. He had been employed as a su- pervisor of maintenance at the Terry Center for 15 years, retiring in 1995.- He is survived by his wife, Ju- dith G. King of Rehoboth Beach; two daughters, Cheryl McPherson and Panla Brown, both of Wilm- ington; a stepson, Paul Brown of Wilmington; a sister, Budetta Jones of Stanton; a niece, Cathy Cresto of Middletown; and seven grandchildren. He was prede- ceased by a son, David Brown; his mother, Anna King; a sister, Mary King; and a brother, Richard King. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, July 31, at Rochford officially files for Parsell Funeral Homes and Cre- matorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 1449 Kings Highway, Lewes, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Burial will be private. Elise Moore Wood, former Trader's owner Elsie Moore Wood, 82, of Nokomis, Fla., died Saturday, Ju- ly 22, 2000, at home. Mrs. Wood lived in Lewes for many years and she and her late husband, Vincent Davis Wood, were the owners of Traders Jewel- ry & Gift Shop. She is survived by three daugh- ters, Margaret Ann Lupton of Lewes; Nancy W. Goulet of Venice, Fla.; and Victoria W. Weeks of Nokomis; two sisters, Edna Murphy of Lewes and Vir- ginia Wood of Wilmington; and one grandson. Her husband died in 1997. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Aug. 4, at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Second Street, Lewes, with burial to fol- low in St. Peter's Cemetery, Pilot- town Road, Lewes. Contributions are suggested to a charity of choice. Arrangements were made by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes. fieutenant governor Republican-endorsed candidate for lieutenant governor, Dennis Rochford, has made his official entry into the race for Delaware's sec- ond-highest elected office. Rochford officially filed for lieutenant gov- ernor with the Delaware Department of Elections Thursday, July 27. In May, Dennis Rochford, and his running mate for governor, John Burris, won the Republican Party's endorsement by a huge margin at the state GOP convention in Dewey Beach. Seventy-five-percent of convention delegates endorsed Burris for governor, and 72 percent endorsed Rochford as their choice for lieu- tenant governor. Rochford formally announced his intentions to run on March 7, along with Burris, and has been campaigning throughout the state since then. On July 3, Burris and Rochford kicked off their weekly bus tour, "Driving Delaware's Future," which will be making stops in New Cas- tle, Kent and Sussex County through October. "I am pleased to have received the Republican Party's endorsement at the convention in May, as well as the endorsement of my former op- ponents, Rick Bell and David Skocik. I look forward to talking to all Delawareans about the important issues in this race: fixing our educa- tion system by reducing class size and restoring discipline in our class- rooms, strengthening public safety and making sure all Delawareans have a sound future," said Rochford.
