He moved to Rehoboth Beach in 1976, where he was a member of the Cape Henlopen Senior Cen- ter, the Lewes Historical Society, and the Rehoboth Art League. He also served as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. He was preceded in death by his only brother in April. He is survived by his wife, Mary. Services were held at St. Ed- mond's Catholic Church, Re- hoboth Beach, with burial private. Hazel Carey, 89, of rural Mil- ton, died Wednesday, July 19, 2000, at Harrison House, George- town. Mrs. Carey was a homemaker. She was involved in the Milton Senior Center and was a member of the Goshen United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur. She is survived by three broth- ers and sisters, J. William Cook Sr. of Malden, Mass., H. Frances Stinchfield of Carver, Mass., and Robert Cook of Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. Services were held at Short Fu- neral Home, Milton, with burial in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Milton. Robert F. Gurnee, prominent businessman Robert F. Gurnee, 72, of Greenville and Lewes, died Tues- day, July 18, 2000, at Christiana Hospital. Mr. Gurnee served in the U.S. Navy from 1945 to 1948 and from 1951-52. He attended St. John's University, earning a degree in business administration and fi- nance. He was subsequently awarded an honorary doctor of commercial science degree. He had a long and distinguished business career, which started at the investment banking firm of Goldman, Sachs & Co., where he worked from 1951-57. From 1958 to 1980, he was employed by Sears Roebuck Acceptance Corp., where he rose to the position of president and CEO and a member of the board of directors. From 1981 to 1989, he was vice presi- dent of Sears, Roebuck & Co., Chicago, and was also managing Continued on page 38 Richard G. Houck, hotel management chef Richard G. Houck, 62, of Lewes and formerly of Baltimore, Md. died Saturday, July 22, 2000, of heart failure at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. Mr. Houck was a retired hotel management chef for hotels in the Ocean City, Md. and Delaware area. He was an avid fisherman and loved being near the water. He is survived by a son, Justin, and a daughter, Pamela, both of Baltimore; his mother, of Lewes; two brothers, John of Easton, Md. and Phil of Ocean City, Md.; two sisters, Patricia Riggle of Lewes and Sandra Canby of St. Michael's, Md.; and a grandson. Rozanski, 75, of Long Neck, died Wednesday, July 19, 2000, at home. Mrs. Rozanski was a retired clerk for the Pennsylvania Rail- road for over 30 years. She was a member of East Gate Presbyterian Church in Long Neck, where she sang in the choir and served on the building fund committee. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry, in 1995. She is survived by a son, Henry E. Jr.; a daughter, Darlene Faraone; a brother, Jack Hare; three sisters. Arlene Beam, Iris Mumford and Barbara Wheeler; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Services were held at Gracelawn Memorial Chapel.
