Steppin Out Continued from page 58 16. Stay tuned for details, or call the Bottle & Cork at 227-8545. Treat your ears to the sounds of vocalist and keyboard player Dave Brand, currently in the spot- light at the Sea Grille Restaurant on the Boardwalk on the top floor of the Henlopen Hotel. Brand, a talented artist who performs a va- riety of music from Big Band to modern, will play from 6:30- 10:30 p.m. He is joined by Satur- day night's featured artist, singer Michael Howard, who also plays guitar and harmonica. For infor- mation about the performances, or to make a dinner reservation, call 227-2551, Ext. 123. Combustible act Carbon 14 has two local performances upcom- ing. A three-man band featuring guitarist/vocalist Ray Moretton, bass player/vocalist Steve Wallo and drummer Sonny Martin, Car- bon 14 released a compilation CD with Los Angeles theatrical per- former/vocalist Riktor. The group will perform mostly original ma- terial with a few covers. The CD, titled the "Riktor/Car- bon 14 Project," is available at the band's Friday, Aug. 1 perfor- mance at Sir Guy's in Rehoboth Beach, or at the Aug. 8-9 shows at the Harbor Lights Restaurant in Bethany Beach. The band is also working on a future CD of solely Carbon 14 music, and expects to have the project completed by the fall. Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats in Rehoboth Beach will present the Push Stars on Friday, Aug. 1, at 10 p.m. Since its beginning two years ago, the trio has risen to the top of the competitive Boston mu- sic scene. The Push Stars have been compared to the likes of John Wesley Harding, Buffalo Tom and the Lemonheads, and have garnered attention from such media as the "College Music Jour- nal" and the "Boston Magazine," the latter of which named the group the "Best Rock Upstart of 1996." The band released its self-titled CD in 1996, and has earned expo- sure on soundtracks of MTV shows "Real World" and "Singled Out," as well as ABC show "All My Children." On Saturday, Aug. 2, Dogfish will host the Remnants, a clever band heavily influenced by rocka- billy but intermingled with R & B, rock, pop and laid-back soul. The Remnants are the 1997 semi-final- ists in Musician Magazine's "Best Unsigned Band" contest. Billed as "more fun than a box of Chick- lets, wilder than a patch of weeds on the highway," the Remnants sound like a band you won't want to miss. There is no cover charge in ef- fect for either shows at Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats, which is located at 320 Rehoboth Avenue. For information, call 226-BREW (2739).
