Cominos exhibit at Back Porch The Back Porch Cafe in Re- hoboth Beach is presenting the paintings of Jane Cominos of New York City through August 23. With a bachelor of fine arts from the Rhode Island School of Design, she has graduate credits from Harvard University and lived in the Boston area from 1969 to 1988. The sole proprietor of an illus- tration and graphic design busi- ness in New York called "Illustra- tus," her major accounts include Fisher Price, Doubleday, Bantam Dell, Shari Lewis Enterprises, Scholastic Harcourt Brace Jo- vanovich and Simon and Schuster. Cominos has done book illus- trations for educational publishing and juvenile trade markets, and is also a children's puzzle and game designer. Cominos has been exhibiting her paintings since the mid-80s, specializing in representational acrylics. "I don't paint from life because my working schedule doesn't al- low models. I prefer to find black and white photos of people's fam- ily members or base general paint- ing composition on magazine photos and postcards picked up in travels," she explained.
