Big Thursday festival set in Millsboro Locals and visitors alike can look forward to a super summer celebration in late August, when the Greater Millsbom Chamber of Commerce kicks off its annual Big Thursday festival Thursday through Saturday, Aug. 25-27. Auctioneer Charles West of Gumboro will open the celebra- tion with an auction in the PNC Bank parking lot, Main Street, at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 25. The Chamber is seeking auction donations from individuals - good condition items (except clothing, animals, large appliances or furni- ture) are welcome and pick up ser- vice is available. For information contact the Chamber at 934-6777. All proceeds will help defray fes- tival expenses. Vendors of food, crafts, games, etc. are also asked to contact the Chamber for booth space reserva- tion at the Millsboro Little League Complex, where the festival will be held. Spaces range from 15- feet by 15-feet, to 30-feet by 30- feet, with or without electricity. The cost is $20 to $85 per space. Friday and Saturday entertain- ment schedules are packed. Fri- day is c.ountry night, beginning with a live broadcast by WSBL Froggy 99.9 featuring line danc- ing and cowboy boot contests. Performing live will be Shelly Hudson from 6 to 7 p.m., followed by Sweetwater Run from 7 to 8 p.m. and 9 to 10 p.m. A fashion show from Designs by Originally Yours will take place from 8 to 9 Put Beebe Medical Center on your Calendar Saturday, August 20 10 am - 2 pro. Headlining Saturday's line-up are the Car and Vendor Show and two performances by those fabu- lous 50s and 60s rock and rollers the Hubcaps, in a return engage- ment from 6 to 7 p.m. and 8 to 9 p.m., followed by a fireworks dis- play. The car show runs through- out the day, with trophies being awarded in 38 different classes from antiques to foreign to street rods, trucks and motorcycles. Judging will be from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Vendor spaces are $25 and $35. Contact the chamber at 934-8085 for more information.
