Cape Gazette NEWS TUESDAY, AUGUST 13- THURSDAY, AUGUST 15, 2013 3 Police & Fire Georgetown man arrested for 7th DUI The Delaware State Police have arrested a Georgetown man after he was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol. for the seventh time. The incident occurred at ap- proximately 6 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 10, as a trooper on routine patrolobserved a red Dodge Da- kota southbound in the left-turn lane of North DuPont Boule- vard proceed through a red light and turn onto North Bedford Street. The trooper, who was already traveling in the south- Darren McGrath bound lanes of Route 113, was able to perform a traffic stop on the pickup truck within a quarter of a mile of observing the infraction. As the trooper made contact with the operator, who was later identified as Darren M. McGrath, 59, of Georgetown, a strong odor of alcohol was de- tected and a DUI investigation ensued. McGrath was taken back to Troop 4 in Georgetown where he was arrested for his seventh DUI. A computer check revealed he had six previous DUI convic- tions in 2009, 2008, 2007, 2004 and two in 1998; this arrest would make seven. Along with the DUI offense, McGrath was also charged with driving while suspended and revoked, and failure to stop at a red light. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $10,600 cash bond after being arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 3. Police searching for sex offender The Delaware State Police Sex Offender Apprehension and Reg- istration Unit is currently looking for a Millsboro sex offender after he failed to register his sex offender status. Investiga- M. Jackson tors have obtained a warrant for Martino Jackson, 32, who is a Tier I sex offender, after they learned that he failed to reg- ister as required by law. He is described as a black male, 5-foot-8-inches tall, 180 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. Hemay be in the Millsboro area. The Delaware State Police Sex Offender Apprehension and Registration Unit is asking any- one who may know the location of Jackson to call 911 or 302-672- 5306. Citizens may also provide a tip by texting keyword "DSP" plus their message to 274637 (CRIMES). Milton preservation meeting: canceled The Historic Preservation Committee meeting in Milton scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 13, at the Milton Public Library has been canceled due to a lack of agenda items. Milton council to discuss budget Aug. 15 Milton Town Council will meet at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 15, at the Milton Public Library to discuss the fiscal year 2014 budget.
