I Blue Moon scrubs Ajax, 1-0, to win YMCA sum- mer soccer league title By Dave Frederick summer league team in this league The attitude on the sidelines ap- peared "lax" while on-field play remained tense and physical in last Thursday's Aug. 6 champi- onship game in the YMCA sum- mer soccer league. The Blue Moon team brought an undefeat- ed, 11-0 regular season record, and the nicest uniforms, into the f'mals but even with numbers most players couldn't identify their teammates by first and last name. Dave Oslan scored the first and only goal at five minutes or there- abouts into the ball game and the goal would hold up despite the fact that Blue Moon starting goalie Chris Leibert was AWOL. "This was absolutely the best over the last four years," said Blue Moon captain and defenseman Wes Fruehauf. "This game was important for us to win, so we went out and won it." Superstriker of the Ajax team, Jeremy "Psycho Killer" Hurd, had a different version of the action from the halftime sidelines. "Those guys aren't that good," Hurd said. "We should be killing them but we are playing terrible." Brian Smith subbed in goal for Leibert and pitched a shutout even though it was not his regular posi- tion. The Blue Moon defense, be- hind Fruehauf and Paul Roth, just didn't allow much penetration on the goaltender.
