CAPE GAZETI, Friday, August 14 - August 20, 1998 - 87 Delaware sets hunting seasons, li00ts for '98 Pintail limit down, snow goose limit up; dove season to open It won't be long before hunting season begins. With that in mind, preliminary hunting seasons have been set for this year. There is a slim possibility that duck seasons could still be changed, but that is only a slim possibility. There are relatively few changes expected for hunters this fall and winter, although the changes that are planned are inter- esting ones. Snow goose bag limits will in- crease from 10 to 15 birds per day. Delaware Wildlife Administrator Lloyd Alexander and other offi- cials have said that increased bag limits are a way of dealing with environmental damage caused by the birds. In some cases, the birds can strip marshland to bare mud, virtually eating themselves out of house and home. There will also be an early sea- son for teal and the bag limit for pintails will drop to one bird per day to help the birds recover from low numbers. The number of black ducks allowed per day will OUTDOORS Michael Short also be only one bird. Here are many of the planned hunting seasons.
